OUR STORY

In 2007, Pastor & Mrs. Perry traveled from Botswana, Africa to Columbus, Ohio for the General Conference of the United Pentecostal Church International, where they accepted an invitation to visit New England while they and their children were in the United States.  Driving through West Haven, CT, Pastor Perry heard that small still voice say, “This is where I want you.”  Several days later he mentioned to Mrs. Perry that there was a huge change coming and she responded, “New Haven, right?”  God has spoken to her as well.

They spoke to the Connecticut North American Missions director at the time and were encouraged to look into the Metro Mission Program of the UPCI.  As a result, they went back to Africa to return three months later and began traveling the USA raising financial support to start the church in New Haven.   Haven of Hope is the result of hundreds of churches and individuals that gave sacrificially enabling us to have what we have today.  After two years of travel, Haven of Hope was incorporated in 2009!

The Perry’s purchased a home in Hamden, CT where they began meetings which soon outgrew their living room.  Meetings were moved to the basement for only a few weeks and a conference room in the Courtyard by Marriott in Orange, CT was rented.  The first service in the hotel was on November 1, 2010, this was the first “official” church service with near 20 in attendance.  By that summer God allowed Haven of Hope to purchase property at 884 Grand Avenue in New Haven!  Just another step in the miracle that God was creating in this ministry.

Haven of Hope has had a strong youth and college aged group from the beginning.  A highlight was traveling to National Youth Congress 2013 in our new church van!

Haven of Hope has hosted our annual “Hope Fest”our way of giving to the communityletting them know we were here.  Free food, school supplies, community representatives are just a small part of this great event.

As a church we are passionate about reaching the children of our community.   HOH KIDZ is our answer to ministry to children.  Our volunteer staff continues to grow as does the number of children in this ministry.

The story continues and we would love for you to be part of it.
